ETHAN WALSH
About Me
My name is Ethan Walsh and this fall I will be a senior at the University of Rhode Island where I major in Kinesiolgy and Biology. A passion of mine is never ceasing to learn and become better at what I do, a characteristic that drives me towards accomplishing my goals whether they are academic, personal, or occupational. My career goals include pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and I plan on applying to schools this coming spring.
This portfolio illustrates my time as an intern at The Miriam Hospital’s Center for Cardiac Fitness, an opportunity that enhanced my knowledge for providing healthcare and also brought me closer to accomplishing my career goals. As an EMT-B I have experience in the medical field volunteering for University of Rhode Island Emergency Medical Services and the Chepachet Fire Department. I have also had the incredible opportunity of volunteering for Clinica Esperanza in Roatan, Honduras serving the underprivileged community there. In comparison to these past experiences, my time spent in cardiac rehabilitation offered a totally new setting with unfamiliar challenges and different approaches to providing care. The overall experience only positively influenced my decision to enter the field of medicine. As I move forward there is no doubt that the knowledge I have gained during my internship will be incredibly valuable and make me better able to provide care for the people I encounter.
